On February 21-22, 2024, Batumi will host the Batumi International Tourist Guide Conference (BIGC), aligning with the celebration of the International Day of the Guide. The event will last for two days and comprise three panel sessions.

The conference, organized by the Department of Tourism and Resorts of Ajara, will showcase speakers from abroad and diverse regions of Georgia, along with experts from the tourism industry. Attendance at the conference is free for guides, thematic associations, and representatives from the education sector.

The main goal of the Batumi International Tourist Guide Conference is to create a professional platform where representatives of the tourism industry can share their professional experiences, engage in discussions regarding the professional education of tourist guides, underscore the importance of the guide profession, and explore priorities for tourism development, including cultural, ecological, mountain, and gastronomic tourism.

The main themes of the panel sessions and presentations will focus on global tourism and the guide's role as an ambassador for tourist destination, as well as the unique professional experience of the guides. One of the crucial topics of the panel discussions will also involve questions related to cultural heritage in the context of tourism and museums.

As part of the two-day conference program, invited guests will also have the opportunity to participate in excursions, exploring the tourism potential of the region and enjoying Georgian hospitality.
